50 Shades of Black

50 Shades of Black

Black is my go to colour and personally I think it is the most elegant and cool colour out there. Especially black leather is not going anywhere in 2016. Black is very versatile and all black is no longer gruffly and emo, it is cool, elegant and chic. Furthermore, it looks amazing with all sorts of other colours. My current favourites are black with cream and camel. It is so Kardashian and so sophisticated. Check out some of my favourite looks below.

Style Watch // Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen

These girls have been my inspiration forever. Ever since Full House the Olsen charm had me. They are adorable, fashionable and extremely smart. They turned their fame into two major fashion labels that are respected by many important people. Even though they're twins, they are extremely individual. While Ashley is more classy and chic, Mary-Kate always had a certain grunge and rock n' roll chic going on. She's always been the cheekier one of the two. They are known for their undone/done hair looks, grungy make up, nude lips and oversized glasses and bags. In the last years they became very minimalistic in their looks, which reflects their fashion brands The Row and Elizabeth & James. They  even won CFA's for their outstanding performances in fashion. It is safe to say that the Olsens are still one of the most important people in fashion and also the most influential.

Everyone who knows me or follows me on social media knows that I dress in black pretty much all the time. I always say that it is effortless and chic. If you don't know what to wear, black will do. But even I was not able to resist the camel/cream trend anymore. I absolutely fell in love with it. Maybe because it is as simple and chic as black is, maybe because it seems very sophisticated without looking a bit emo like black outfits often do or maybe it is just the fact that it looks great paired with black. I don't know what it is. Kim K has been surfing on that wave for a while and when her younger sisters followed and with that probably everyone else in the fashion world I finally decided that it is a cool trend that is hear to stay.

Over Knee = Over The Moon

Over-knee. Where should I start? It is probably my all time favorite trend. I mean first they are super sexy, second they make your outfit pop and third they are probably THE trend this winter.
For me this trend is completely versatile, yes they are sexy, but they can totally look cute. I personally prefer them with no heel just because I think it's less offensive compared to the ones with heels. I love wearing them with skirts and knitted sweaters or simple with skinny jeans and a shirt. I think they make your outfit special and are definitely a staple for winter.
If you cannot afford the super expensive versions from Stuart Weitzman or Christian Louboutin don't worry! From ASOS to Zara there are many high street brands who have great cheaper versions!

Balmain x H&M... controversial?

Okay. I think everyone got the memo that the Balmain x H&M dropped today and it is no wonder that everything sold out within around two hours. But why is that designer meets H&M collection always such a world wide phenomenon? Well every girl and as of today also a lot men loves a bit of designer in their life and like me, the average girl, cannot afford getting designer pieces on a daily basis. I think H&M is playing with that, plus I also think designers want to make themselves more approachable with collaborations like that. Everyone knows the Swedish retailer. I think this years collaboration was not only attractive because of the designer appeal but also because Olivier Rousteing is an extremely young designer and likes hanging out with the social media generation of models, such as Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn or Kendall Jenner. These girls are not only mega models but also inspirations to many million of girls and young adults. They are in TV every day, post pictures on their Instagram profile where millions of people see their latest posts. I think H&M and Rousteing were extremely smart by doing this collab. Rousteing's designs are extremely high end and cost around 7000 Dollars if not more but also the fact that girls that buy at H&M are usually fans of those named models, which makes it extremely easy to hype the collection. I think I've never seen so many adds before for a H&M collaboration like this year. No show was as talked about as this one. Olivier is not only designer but also a star himself. So high five to all the marketing and pr people behind this collab because you obviously did a great job.

Talking about the actual collection my thoughts are divided. I have to say I like some pieces a lot, others not so much. They are very artsy, no question and also 100 per cent Balmain. BUT when can you actually wear a pink full on glitter dress? We don't all live in LA or New York or Paris where these looks are seen on a daily basis. To be honest if I were to wear this said dress everyone would look at me weirdly here in Zurich. Another big BUT for me is the prices. I know it's designer, I know it's peanuts compared to Balmain's regular collection but it is still H&M and I have a big problem with that. I don't see the sense in buying a dress for 700 Dollars, which is a Balmain x H&M collab dress. It is still H&M, like said before. I'm not going to lie, I do own some quite expensive stuff and I feel extremely honoured to own things like that but for me shopping isn't just about spending money (Which is by the way the feeling you get while shopping for this collection). For me shopping is about the feeling, the looking, the trying on, the thinking with what other staples in your closet this new dress or bag would look good with. Especially if I buy something expensive. I have to say I'd rather spend 700 Dollars on something that I had the pleasure of a nice shopping trip than a dress I had to almost fight for with some other chick.

I was at the (supposed) VIP pre shopping event yesterday and it was fun. I still had to stand in line and people were still fighting like something was for free but it overall was a fun experience. But no, I didn't get anything because of the reasons mentioned above. I think it is okay to love these collections and I do own stuff from Alexander Wang x H&M last year or the Jimmy Choo one a few years back but this year I decided not to. I think Balmain is also not really my taste. I think, like I said, it is really artsy and beautifully made and looks absolutely perfect on girls like the Kardashian's or Gigi. It is too sparkly and too extravagant for my liking. I knew I wouldn't wear it a lot anyway.

I still decided to pick a few of the pieces I liked from the collection and put together some looks for those who bought some stuff. Also pictures from the event last night - I already apologise I look horrendous.

Turtleneck Sweaters

One of this year's undeniable autumn/winter trends are turtleneck sweaters. They were already starting to come back last year but now they are everywhere. Acne Studio has some great sweaters in their collection this year but it is unfortunately not available for me as I cannot just spend hundreds of dollars on a sweater.

Brandy Melville came to my rescue. This cream coloured knitted sweater is extremely comfortable and very warm. It looks almost exactly like one I saw from Acne Studio but was only around 50 quid.
I also got another one from Polo Ralph Lauren, which was a bit more expensive but amazing quality. I've been wearing it almost everyday since I've got it. It is dark grey and very oversized.

See below to find out how I would style this autumn trend.

Man in Style: Harry Styles

Men pay attention! Let me present you my future husband Harry Styles... He should be your inspiration when it comes to style right now. His name is Styles and with him that name is what you get. His trademark brands are Saint Laurent, Gucci and Louis Vuitton; he wears Tom Ford perfume and his hair is his most popular fashion statement. He makes weird clothes look sexy and makes pink on a man hot af. Everything he wears comes straight from the runway, which makes it extremely hard to get your hands on the stuff as it isn't even in stores yet. I must admit I have more than just a minor crush on him and I'm proud of it. His accent makes him even more handsome. I love that he isn't the stereo type kind of guy and loves to take risks with fashion. He is very confident without being cocky, successful but humble but also sexy but still extremely witty and charming. He thinks he is funny, which he's not but that makes him even better. He loves his fans, friends and family. He is often portrayed as a womanizer, which makes me angry. He is nice and polite to everyone and I don't think that is really something wrong.
He loves women for sure but that doesn't make him a womanizer. He is also very protective over his sister, which is extremely adorable.
His tattoos give him a certain edge and I must say this man is probably everything someone wants in one. People want to see him as a bad boy but let's face it he is just a little cupcake with an extreme sense of fashion.

Seasonal Desires

If you open a fashion magazine these days you will see tons of new trends and "it" pieces. Depending on the audience of the magazine these trend pieces vary a bit. Looking at the bloggers, models and celebrities walking and going to the global fashion weeks these days I find that black and leather are very prominent this year. Also looking through my favorite fashion magazine, InStyle, yesterday I saw a lot of black but also fringe and "cowboy" elements in it.

Going through all of this I started thinking about what my "it" pieces for this fall are and what makes me excited.
Now as I'm a student sneakers are my favorite thing to wear: they are comfortable and thanks to all the bloggers and models around the world finally fashionable again. Eleanor Calder rocked her Adidas superstars to a London Fashion Week party, paired with leather pants and a velvet blazer. A look to love. Kendall Jenner wears her various collection of sneakers all the time as well does Gigi Hadid. I think the design of the Adidas Superstar is really great. It is monochrome and because of the leather, they stay in form.

Whether you are a fashion addict or you loathe it. Everyone needs a leather jacket. As well as a good pair of leather pants because let's face it: they are hot af. And in my opinion one that is of high quality. My leather jacket is from Sandro Paris and I've had it for about 5 years now and I still wear it almost every day. Acne Studios has for me the best designs for leather jackets. They are very simple and good cut. The good thing about leather jackets is that you can wear them all year around. Pair them with a good jumper and it is warm enough for Fall.

Another thing I love is the Sac de Jour from Saint Laurent. I have the nano version of it and I wear it all the time. It goes with everything. Their newest design with snake printed handles is my newest obsession. I think it is very monochromic and since I saw it on Kendall Jenner I cannot get my mind off of it. I think the design is very simple and classic. It reminds me a bit of the Kelly or Birkin bag from Hermes but I think it is much younger and a lot cheaper.

Another obsession I have every Fall and Winter are big, chunky scarves. Whether it is a simple grey or black one or this creme colored Zara scarf with black and grey ends, I cannot get enough of them. I think they add perfectly to your outfit and make you feel warmer immediately.

Hope you like this post. Just check out Zara or Mango at the moment if you want to get a feel of this seasons must haves. They have a great collection at the moment, which reminds me a lot of Saint Laurent's collection.

New In - Autumn Edition

September time means thinking of a new wardrobe and what to wear in this great season. Plus I'm travelling to London soon, which is also always a great opportunity to show off some new fashion items.
So this season I was lucky enough to get a hand on the Stuart Weitzman Lowlands in black suede. These boots are my favorite boots of all time. I am so in love with their fitting and their material.
Also I finally got some proper great jeans. I own many Topshop and Zara jeans but to be honest I always wanted a pair of great quality ones and as Acne Studios is one of my favorite brands and my friend raved about their jeans I decided to get two pairs. I decided to get the model 5 pocket in the colors Marylin and Black and I love them. The material is amazing and they fit perfectly. They came in a cute little bag.

Autumn Essentials and Life Tips

things for uni fall you need

It's finally September and my impatient childish soul cannot wait for the leaves starting to fall, stores smelling like cinnamon and the pumpkin spice lattes coming back to Starbucks. All I want to do is buying nice smelling candles, new beddings and blankets to make my room super cozy and cute. Sadly this time of the year also means uni is starting again, which means studying and no shopping. To make it still a bit more magical and doable I put together some must haves for uni and your personal well being. Personally just a couple of candles a nice blanket and painting your nails in a dark red makes you feel all autumn-y. I love the coziness of this season and the vibe, so why not take your studying to a coffeeshop, get your favorite coffee or tea and wander in your thoughts and work there. I personally will definitely do that a lot this year. So, get out, be happy, dress cozy and drink your favorite tea and everything will be fine, even uni.

Animal Prints

Animal prints

Animal prints always have been something I really enjoyed. The leo Louis Vuitton scarf has been one of my staples for fall and winter for over 3 years now and I still consider it one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe.
Animal prints, especially leopard patterns, are everywhere this season. It feels like every brand, whether its high end or designer has them in their newest collection. Especially Saint Laurent is really going for the leopard patterns this year but also Christian Louboutin really goes with the flow and designed his amazing So Kate pumps in the trendy leopard pattern.
Dolce & Gabbana were probably one of the firsts though when it came to bringing out leopard patterns. They designed daring blouses and dresses for confident and sexy women. These days brands like Topshop are also joining the leopard team and making it more commercial. For me a leopard pattern is best worn with black and white. Simple and classy. I like to wear one leopard item with a wow effect and then be subtle with the rest of the outfit. It makes it cool, sexy but also edgy, which I love. The combination leather and leopard is also something I adore. I find it just perfect for fall and winter.

Fall picks

Fall picks

Fall is around the corner and here comes my favorite season for fashion!! I can finally wear black again without feeling guilty. I can wear boots and leather jackets and sweaters without anyone judging me. This fall is everything about clear lines and the cool rocker kind of look for me.
I picked some of my fall favorites so check them out below.

Grey Sweater from Acne Studio
They go with everything. Jeans, leather pants, skirts, you name it. Acne is one of my favorite brands and they never fail to amaze me with their amazing sweaters. I think this is an absolute staple in your fall wardrobe.

Leather Jacket from Acne Studio
Leather jackets have been here forever but I still consider them an it piece. A leather jacket finishes your outfit with a certain edge. Acne, again, has one of my favorite leather jacket collections but also Burberry or Sandro and for the lower budget Zara or Mango have amazing jackets.

Ripped Skinny Jeans from J Brand
I love them and I will always love them. I wear ripped jeans 99% of the time and I buy them in many different variations. Black, Blue, Light Blue but for Fall I will definitely go for my favorite black ones. J Brand or Rag & Bone have amazing high budget versions but my favorites are the Topshop Jamie's. Zara also has some in their newest collection.

Leather Pants from Helmut Lang
Black leather pants are the bomb. They make you look sexy and edgy. I really want to get the Helmut Lang pants one day but I own a good pair of Burberry ones that I stole from my mum's closet ;). Zara,  Topshop and Mango have amazing non leather alternatives.

Ankle Boots from Mango
I got these boots and I love them. They are a much cheaper version of the Acne Jensen Boots and they are so comfortable. The pointed toe makes them a bit more special compared to other chelsea boots and mine are suede, something I never had but definitely enjoy for this Fall.

Fedora Hat from Rag & Bone
I was always skeptical when it came to fedoras because I'm really not a hat kind of girl but I must admit I started loving them. They don't just look super stylish but they also save your hair from the awful Fall rain and don't worry about bad hair days anymore. Zara has amazing cheap alternatives at the moment.

Cowboy Belt from Saint Laurent
I've loved these belts for the whole summer already and I cannot wait to show them off this Fall. I got a small and cheap version from Zara and I wear it everyday. It's so cute and edgy, I love it.

Cape from Joseph
Capes are super cool and easy to wear. You can always throw them over your look when it's chilly outside and you look amazing. This one is from Joseph, a brand I really like but I'm sure Zara and Mango will follow soon with cheaper alternatives.

Leather Skirts from Zara and Topshop
I'm not a girl who wears skirts a lot but I have to admit I'm kind of excited to wear some this fall. I so wanna get my hands on this cognac colored Topshop A line skirt. It is suede and so pretty. I've seen one on Emily Ratajkowski and I love it. Another classic is a simple black leather skirt. This one is from Zara and I think the asymmetric cut is really cute.

Over Knee Boots from Stuart Weitzman
These boots are the biggest dream of mine. I love them! They are so stylish, fun, sexy and easy going. You can wear them on so many occasion and i think the suede is amazing as well. I hope I will get them this fall as I really need them. For a tall girl like me (5'10) it is quite the challenge to find over knee boots that actually go OVER the knee but these boots are really high and I love it. ASOS and Sam Edelman have cheaper alternatives but when it comes to those boots there's nothing but the original for me.

Small Sac de Jour from Saint Laurent
I have the nano sac de jour and I wear it every day. I love the design of that simple but exciting bag. This one is suede and I think it looks amazing to leather pants and a white boyfriend shirt or for a night out with a cute dress. I adore this bag.

Blogger of the week // Flo Loves Clothes

I've been following this young girl for ages and her style has become more and more an inspiration for me. Florencia is 20 years old and from Boston. I found out about her a long time ago through her Eleanor Calder blog on tumblr. Now she's a known blogger that becomes more famous day by day. Her sets on Polyvore are amazing and her personal blog "Flo Loves Clothes" has become one of my favorites. She is  very natural and super nice and her style is chic, simple but always with a good twist, which I love. She is simply gorgeous. I love how she incorporates high street brands in her looks. She makes everything accessible for us all and not just those who are super rich. If you don't already know and follow her check her blog out flolovesclothes.com.

Summer to Autumn

Summer to Autumn

The temperatures are slowly decreasing, the light is getting different and the leaves slowly start to fall. Autumn is just around the corner and while I'm still hoping that we will still get some heat days, the forecast says something different. Now, the good thing about Autumn is, that you can still wear some of the summer trends you're not ready to leave behind without freezing or looking weird.

Denim A Line Skirt
This was one of THE summer trends 2015 and with a little help you can make it the Autumn trend. Pair it with some cute over the knee boots (these are the Lowlands from Stuart Weitzman), a cool crop top from your summer wardrobe and end it with a leather jacket. It is simple but cute and even though you're wearing a skirt the overknee boots help you prevent to freeze.

Highwaisted Denim Shorts
Again, really easy. Knee High socks, cute booties or sneakers and a nice long sleeved blouse and you're good to go for Autumn. Ps: You can even wear them in winter, just wear tights instead of socks.

Patchwork Dress
We all know that patchwork is still in style in Autumn. While designers like Burberry showed us that they're a staple piece in our Autumn wardrobe, high street sellers like Zara followed their lead.
Again I would pair them with over knee boots and when it gets really cooler with a pair of fine tights.

Sandals
Birkenstocks had their comeback last year and shortly after Designers like Isabel Marant followed. They are super comfortable and personally I think they're really cute. You saw them a lot this summer and with some cool distressed black skinny jeans a bardot top (also stolen from your summer wardrobe) and statement glasses this look is made for those late late summer days.

What are your summer fashion highlights you're not ready to give up on?

Ibiza Impressions

I'm in Ibiza at the moment writing this article by the pool with a view on the ocean. Yes, life is nice. Nevertheless, I thought to give you a little overview of my stay here in Ibiza so far as this island offers so much more than just parties, you can eat deliciously good and chill out in cute beach clubs during the day.

Restaurants
When we arrived we had dinner at Blue Marlin - a restaurant, bar and beach club. The food is really good but pricey. I had a a so called "BMI" Thai Salad with beet tataki and tempura prawns. It was excellent. The vibe is really cool there as well. There is music playing and some people dancing, which makes it have a bit of a club feeling.
Another good restaurant we visited was Las Brisas. A very unknown restaurant here in Ibiza but such a lovely place. It is right on top of the ocean so you have a phenomenal view. I had homemade spinach and ricotta ravioli and they were amazing. The people are really nice there as well and I would definitely recommend this place for the lovebirds out there. It is really romantic and quiet.
My favorite so far was the restaurant b.for. It is a sushi restaurant and the location is great and the food amazing. Even for people like me who don't eat raw fish! I had tempura chicken, vegetable gyosa and avocado and cucumber maki rolls and for desert Nutella maki rolls (they are the bomb!!). The personnel is really attentive and fast. They also have a big drinks menu. The location is great too. It has a very bar vibe and the tables are really lowm which makes it very chilled and relaxed. I was very surprised by the prices, for what we ate and drank it was not expensive at all. I think it's a must place to go when you visit Ibiza.

Beach Club
We went to Blue Marlin again but this time during the day. We rented a beach bed and hung out there the whole afternoon. It is really great. You can order food, drinks, basically everything you want. There is music playing and when it gets later in the afternoon people start dancing and it changes into a day party. It is not cheap but I think ok for the things you get. The food is very good. I had a cheeseburger and we shared some Mezze and loads of other stuff. The best thing though is there variety of Sangrias. We chose the one with Rosé and it is literally the best sangria I ever had. So fruity and delicious and not too much alcohol considering you're drinking it during the day. I wouldn't go there every day but if you want to have a change in scenery once, I would definitely recommend it.

Of course we weren't every where yet and won't be able to visit all the cool places as there are just too many. I think you can visit Ibiza and don't spend too much when you don't go to fancy places every day. We're lucky that my friends dad owns a house here where we could spend our days and we don't need to go out every day. Therefore you can really choose were you want to go.

Beauty Routine

Beauty Routine

My Beauty routine is pretty much the same every day. I have my few staple brands and stuff that I use every day.

Face
I start with the YSL Touche Eclat Make Up in B40, then I use the Estée Lauder Maximum Cover Camouflage in 03 for my pimples and continue with the Maybelline Anti Age Eye Concealer in 03 for the darkness under my eyes. To set the make up I use the Sheer Powder from MAC in Medium Dark

Eyes / Eyebrows
I shape and color my eyebrows with the L'Oréal Brow Artist Genius Kit in Medium. For my eyes I use the Sephora Eyeshadow Pallet Colorful 5 in Sunrise to Sunset Bronze (I usually use the first three colors for a day make up and the darker ones or a night make up). My favorite Eyeliner is the Eyeko Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner. For my lashes I use a Lancôme Primer and the Bourjois Twist Up Mascara (I usually use a lash curler first as well)

Bronzer
I use the Guerlain Terra-cotta Light Bronzer in 03 on my face overall and then I use an Essence Eyeshadow in Choco to contour my cheeks.

Lips
I use the MAC Lipliner in Spice to give my lips a bit more volume and then I fill them with the MAC Matte Lipstick in Honeylove

And this is how it looks in the end! (I didn't use an eyeliner here because I wanted to go more natural)

Beyonce x Flash Tattoos

I am a major fan of flash tattoos this summer. If you follow me on social media you'll know because I think they are super cute for summer. They make your outfit just look better without having to wear jewelry to the beach. So, when I heard Beyonce was bringing out a collection of flash tattoos I was over the moon. I love every single design she made but my favorite ones are the lyric tattoos. I think they are very adorable and cute. They come on four sheets and a cool cover design with Queen Bee herself on it. Check out the ads below to see how they look.
